More than 100.000 sold games within 12 months: This is the criteria to fulfill in order to get nominated for the BIU Sales Award in Gold of the Bundesverband Interaktive Unterhaltungssoftware (German Trade Association of Interactive Entertainment Software). The winners have been chosen: in total five games made the list of the most successful games in the German market in August.
For the field of digital games, the BIU Sales Award is something like the gold disc in music: Since 2008 especially successful full price versions of digital games in Germany have been awarded with it. The basis are the sales figures collected by media control GfK INTERNATIONAL GmbH. Here comes an overview of the five winners of the BIU Sales Award in Gold for the month August:
Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag (Ubisoft / Ubisoft) (platform: PC)

Since last year you can even find this game in the video games collection in the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
The Last of Us – Remastered (Sony / Naughty Dog) (platform: PlayStation 4)
Sony’s million-selling hit continues its success: The relentless but human struggle of the two unlike protagonists Joel and Ellie has taken the world by storm. This game has received innumerable awards such as the five prizes of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts 2014 or LARA for the best international game at the German Games Award 2014. „Tomodachi Life“ has become cult in Japan, and not only there. The bizarre life simulator for your pants pocket is well on the way to become an international Nintendo 3DS hit. In “Tomodachi Life“ you will monitor an island full of little avatars called „Mii“ that you can create yourself, receive from other players or import via QR codes. Feeding these small manikins, advising them in the everyday and love life or simply just observing them will quickly become a source of fascination and provide funny things to talk about amongst friends.
Total War: Rome 2 (Sega / The Creative Assembly) (platform: PC)
Complex strategy games and simulations have been enjoying immense popularity for many years especially on the German PC market. So it is not surprising that also the newest offshoot of the long-living strategy series “Total War” is successful: „Rome 2“ deals with the expansion times of the Roman Empire from the third century BC until the end of the Republic. You can choose between different parties and play historic battles such as the siege of Carthage or the Battle of the Teutoburger Forest. By this way Europe’s history comes to life as virtual reality that you can take part in.
