Hundreds of new premieres and blockbuster titles for consoles and PC, as well as new online and mobile games await you to get discovered. And if that isn’t enough, then gamescom also has quite a lot to offer besides the spectacular game presentations of the more than 800 exhibitors: a full supporting programme that will round off your ultimate gamescom experience.
Laser games, paintball and RC DRIFT GAMES
In halls 5.1 and 10.2 there are numerous indoor events to participate in and watch. Among other things, laser games, paintball or the RC DRIFT GAMES provide good entertainment. A large food court can also be found in hall 10.2.
In hall 5.2, game fans really find what they’re looking for in the truest sense of the word, because this is where the fanshop arena is located and offers everything the fan heart desires. Thousands of articles from the computer and video games industry are waiting here for new owners! More than 75 companies will exhibit in hall 5.2.
It has its origin at gamescom and is thus a fixed and, more importantly, successful component of the entertainment area: the INDIE ARENA BOOTH. The organisers of the pavilion for indie developers have already been honoured with several prizes, including the Deutscher Entwicklerpreis (German developer prize) for the Best Marketing Campaign and the Deutscher Computerspielpreis (German computer game prize). In hall 10.1, games fans can also look forward to trying out many new indie games themselves in 2016.
Following a successful premiere in the past year, the social media stage powered by BMVI (Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure) is once again found in hall 10.1. New this year: the cooperation partner YouTube is streaming all content from the social media stage live. Those who aren’t on site themselves can follow all appearances and award ceremonies live at the official gamescom-channel ‘mygamescom’.
From bands through Let’s plays to the awarding of the gamescom award on Friday, 19 August, 6:00 p.m., and the announcement of the winners of the cosplay contest by Defcon Unlimited on 21 August: here a diverse programme is guaranteed.
The cosplay village is also located in hall 10.1. It is a favourite of the public and the meeting point for many gaming fans, who, thanks to sophisticated costumes, are in some cases easily mistaken for their heroes from the computer games. Visitors can also look forward to many show acts on the cosplay stage.
Those interested can find the gamescom campus in hall 10.2. In addition to exciting lectures and shows in the speakers’ corner, the Youth Forum North Rhine-Westphalia is also present here with information involving themes like youth protection, media competence and games. Those who want to inform themselves about career opportunities in the computer and video games industry, as well as in thematically related industries, are at exactly the right place with the dialogue platform

Also part of hall 10.2 is family & friends, an area that premiered last year at gamescom. family & friends is especially oriented to the needs of families. Here, interested visitors have the opportunity to experience gamescom within the entertainment area in a family-friendly environment. family & friends presents itself as colourful and comfortable, and with many lounge and catering stations, ensures a pleasant atmosphere and a relaxed visit. Important elements are the child-compatible gaming stations and events that can be watched or participated in together. In addition to HEADIS, or table tennis played with the head, retro gaming, a skate workshop and a photo van, the juniors club is also here. Among others, Activision, Crytek, Electronic Arts, Fender Musical Instruments and Ubisoft will be represented as exhibitors in the family & friends section. A reserved family ticket contingent makes it possible for families to decide spontaneously to visit gamescom (limited contingent: please observe the current ticket instructions).
There is also a lot to be found at gamescom 2016 under the open sky: the outdoor area behind hall 8, P8, will be used by gamescom partner Red Bull for, among other things, the Red Bull F-Fighters FMX Show, during which spectacular stunts will be shown twice daily. The official COS Cup (German skateboarding championship) also takes place on the P8. The gamescom beach by bigFM offers music and chill out atmosphere.
